Which coffee brands are great to brew your own coffee?

Question by socaljane: Which coffee brands are great to brew your own coffee?
I just bought a french press. I would like to know which are some good organic coffee brands that I could brew myself. Something I can also buy online. I usually shop for coffee at trader joe’s or wholefoods. I am currently brewing weaver’s coffee.

costco sells at a good price Kirkland coffee that is a company by starbucks that seems well priced. also, winco and safeway select coffee beans have worked well for me in the past. I enjoy dark dark roast. cause i like to add extra cream and sugar.

Why not try eBay for your organic coffee. I just finished checking them out and saw some good brands. I enjoy a good cup of coffee from time to time. And when you drink it black like I do, you notice right away whether or not it is a good cup of coffee.

The best coffee in the world comes from the Kona coast in Hawaii or the Blue Mountains in Jamaica. But it isn’t cheap. Most of what you’ll find is blends (maybe 10%) but if you look around online you can order direct from some farms and distributors. My favorite comes from Kanalani Ohana farm in Hawaii.

There are a lot of other options out there that are quite good. Lighter roasts will have more caffeine; some people like the rich taste of a dark roast. (I like to mix about 2/3 medium roast and 1/3 dark roast for best balance). There are a lot of good coffees out there. Check the bulk bins at Wholefoods.

Just be sure to grind your coffee freshly right before you make it. It makes a world of difference.

The question is unanswerable without knowing where you live, because the best coffee is likely to come from some local roaster rather than a national brand unless you’re sure of its freshness. I would check the coffee bulk bins at your local fancy grocery store(s) and see what local brands they offer. They might be more expensive, but you’ll at least know where they come from and might be able to deal directly with the roaster. Where I live, the company that fills about half the bulk bins at the best fancy grocery store has an online presence and will sell to the general public in one-pound bags. I’d buy it if I drank coffee every day.
